If you see my Indian art work, it is done with a vision, plan and composition and it flows in a planned way with meticulous hours that can go on for days or months. However after working with foraged oil paints, I realized I was not looking at a planned piece but had to let go of that perfection and create for the process. I was drawn to experience the beauty of earth pigments, its movements, color and flow. Each of these paintings were done in a day or couple of days and it captures deep emotions, energy and ideas at that point in time. It took me a while to stop meddling with a piece that is done couple of days ago because the connection then to now is different. And when a fresh batch of paint colors are mulled and used the entire process has a deep connection and energy. Hope this resonates in these paintings.
Earth pigments act different in different mediums. When mixed with oil they come alive and show their vibrant color that was previously dormant in pigment state or when mixed with water. This high vibrancy of earth pigments is explored mixing with a tiny percentage of natural pigments to amp up the vibrancy to next level and used in artworks, I also use the coarse leftover granules of rocks after pigment processing and use them as textures in my paintings.
